Aftersun gay

While watching Aftersun, I was absolutely sure of the fact that Calum was gay but repressing his sexuality. I interpreted him struggling with his queerness as a large factor in his depression and ultimate suicide.

Given the film’s 90s setting and Calum moving to London to live with his “work” friend suggest that Calum is not openly gay and fails to embrace his sexuality. Moreover, Calum being gay would also explain why he separated from his wife.
